Main Dining Room
Few dining locations are more picturesque than Grand Hotel’s Main Dining Room. It overlooks the world’s longest porch displaying the hotel’s many American flags, as well as the glistening Straits of Mackinac. Sit down for dinner and you may catch a glimpse of the bellmen taking down the flags for the day – an evening sunset tradition while enjoying music by the Grand Hotel Orchestra.
The Main Dining Room offers a full breakfast, Grand Luncheon Buffet and five course dinner daily and each menu is expertly created by Grand Hotel Executive Chef Hans Burtscher.
Breakfast 7:30 – 9:30 a.m.
At Grand Hotel, a made-to-order breakfast includes a wide selection of entrees including omelettes, eggs any style, hot and cold cereals, pancakes and French toast with real Michigan maple syrup, hot oatmeal, breakfast meats, salmon, steak, fresh breads and pastries, fresh juices, fruits and more. A full buffet is also available.
Continental Breakfast 9:30 – 11:00 a.m.
Available for those who missed service in the Main Dining Room. Located just outside the Main Dining Room in the Geranium Bar.
Grand Luncheon Buffet 12:00 – 2:00 p.m.
The legendary Grand Luncheon Buffet is a one-of-a kind Grand Hotel experience. It features garden-fresh salads, savory cheeses, slow-roasted meats, seafood and a wide selection of fruits and fresh-baked desserts made daily by our pastry chef. The Grand Luncheon Buffet has been awarded the 2016 Certificate of Excellence by TripAdvisor.
The final Grand Luncheon Buffet of the 2017 season will be served on Saturday, October 28.

Dinner 6:30 – 8:45 p.m.
The Main Dining Room’s five-course dinner menu is renowned for its range and excellence, with three rotating menus throughout the season. The five-course meal includes a variety of options designed by our chef. Each meal begins with an appetizer followed by soup, salad, entrée, and dessert.
Grand Hotel’s well-stocked wine cellar offers many domestic and imported choices, including Michigan vintages and our award-winning Grand Hotel wine. Let our Master Sommelier and Wine Director Elizabeth Schweitzer suggest the right wine to accompany your meal. For guests who wish to bring their own wine, Grand Hotel charges a $25.00 corkage fee.
Most packages feature the Modified American Plan, which includes a full breakfast and five-course dinner daily. The Full American Plan includes a full breakfast, Grand Luncheon Buffet and five-course dinner daily. As part of the Modified American Plan or Full American Plan guests can enjoy a more casual atmosphere at The Jockey Club at the Grand Stand or one of our other off site restaurants, including Woods Restaurant, The Gate House or Cawthorne’s Village Inn. At theses venues, guests receive a $20.00 per adult credit towards the food portion of your dinner bill. Tipping is expected at these offsite Grand Hotel restaurants. Guests may also enjoy lunch or dinner at Sushi Grand – another dining option available for guests, but not part of the MAP or FAP.
Evening Attire & Dress Guide
Since every evening at Grand Hotel is a special occasion after 6:30pm dresses, skirts, blouses, dress sweaters and dress slacks for ladies are preferred, while gentleman are required to wear a suit coat, necktie and dress pants, no denim or shorts. This applies for all areas inside the hotel with the exception of the Cupola Bar. Children 12 years and older are expected to be in dress similar to the adults. Click here for more information.
